How do I know if my
child needs tutoring? Answer.
How do you know if my
child needs tutoring?
The tutors at Learning Plus are experts at evaluating students strengths and
weaknesses. Our thorough evaluation will give both the tutors and parents
the necessary information to determine the areas that need extra assistance.
How long will it take to
"fix the problem"?
There is no set amount of time as all students are unique. The tutor will
communicate to the parent when they feel the student has reached the desired academic
level.
What is the parent's
role in tutoring?
The parents are an integral part of the process at Learning Plus. The tutor
will consistently discuss the progress with the parents. This includes successes,
problem areas, and suggestions for practice at home.
How will I know
"it" is working?
Observe your child. You will see a change in their academic ability. You will
see more smiles, less tears and frustration, and increased confidence in their abilities.
What if my child doesn't
want to go to tutoring?
Like many activities, sometimes it's hard to get them in the car. But, once
they are at Learning Plus they have fun. It is amazing to see the attitude of the
students when they leave after a tutoring session. They are pumped up and feeling
good about their work.
Can you use my child's
school homework in the tutoring session?
Yes and no. Yes, when it is appropriate and the tutor feels it would
benefit the student. No, when the tutor feels that the student would benefit from
the specialized material provided by Learning Plus.
Can my child benefit
from tutoring even if they are doing well at school?
Yes. Some parents want their children to receive tutoring to strengthen
their existing skills, advance in their studies, and perform at the top of their class.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of tutoring sessions used. We do not have parents
sign up and pay for extended periods of time as some programs do. At Learning Plus
you pay for the tutoring services used by month.
Should I tell my child's
teacher that they are being tutored?
Definitely. It emphasizes to the teacher that you are providing extra help
for your child. The teacher or school may also be able to provide some extra help,
and they will be more aware of your child's needs.
Should I feel
embarrassed about my child's need for tutoring?
No. It doesn't mean that your child is lacking in intelligence or ambition.
It means they will receive help in some areas they don't completely understand yet.
Many parents are shy about their child's tutoring at first, but become great
advocates of tutoring after they see how well it works.
Where is your office
located?
We are very easy to access from both Hwy 17 and Hwy 85. We are at the
corner of Camden Avenue and Bercaw Road in San Jose. If you are not familiar with
the area please call us for detailed directions.
What hours are you open
for tutoring?

Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
